Job search extensions do three jobs: save a posting into a tracker, fill in application forms, or check your resume against the page. The strongest do all three but are built around one. Work out which step eats your time, then pick the extension that does that step well. Four overlapping extensions give you four trackers to keep in sync.

What Separates a Good One
Check these four things before you install anything.
- ✓It reads the full posting from the page, including the description and salary, so your tracker holds more than a link.
- ✓It works on the boards you use. LinkedIn and Indeed are standard. If you apply on company career sites, look for Workday, Greenhouse, and Lever.
- ✓Saved jobs land somewhere you can work from: a board with stages, notes, and dates.
- ✓The privacy section says what it collects. These extensions read the pages you visit, so check what leaves your browser.

Simplify Copilot: Best for Autofill
Simplify's listing leads with autofill across ATS platforms including Workday, Lever, and Greenhouse, which it describes as free with no limits. It also bookmarks jobs into a tracker that holds applications, LinkedIn profiles, referrals, and interview notes. It flags keywords from the posting that your resume is missing and generates tailored resumes and cover letters with AI. The extension is free, with premium features on top. Pick it if you spend your day filling in long application forms.
Huntr: Best for Autofill Plus a Kanban Board
Huntr's extension saves postings from job boards and ATS pages into a Kanban board, autofills application forms from your Huntr profile, and highlights keywords on a posting that you can add to your resume. The free plan tracks up to 100 jobs. Pro costs $40/month on monthly billing. Pick it if you want autofill and a board in one place.
Jobscan: Best for Match Rate
Jobscan's extension saves jobs from boards such as Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor into its Job Tracker, with the company, title, description, URL, and salary filled in. From a job post, you can run a resume scan to see your match rate. The store listing doesn't mention application autofill. Pick it if you check keyword match before each application. Teal: Best for Tracking Contacts and Companies
Teal's Job Search Companion saves jobs, contacts, and companies into one tracker, with application status, follow-up reminders, resume versions, and email templates for outreach. Its store listing doesn't describe autofill or a match score. Pick it if your search runs through networking and you want contacts next to jobs.
Applyvo: Best for Turning a Saved Job Into a Tailored Application
Applyvo's extension is in Beta. It saves postings from LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Wellfound, Workable, BambooHR, and SmartRecruiters into the Applyvo tracker, reading the company, role, location, salary, employment type, and full description from the page. After you save, it offers shortcuts to write a cover letter or tailor your CV for that job in the web app. It can also save a LinkedIn profile as a contact linked to the application.
It has no application autofill, and the ATS check runs in the web app rather than in the popup. Pick it if the slow part of your search starts after you find the job: tailoring the resume, writing the letter, and keeping both attached to the right application.
Do You Need More Than One?
One tracker-based extension covers most searches. Two trackers give you two lists that drift apart within a week. If you want autofill from one tool and everything else from another, keep saved jobs in a single place and use the second extension for forms only.

Common questions
Are job search Chrome extensions safe?
They need permission to read the job pages you visit, which is how they pull in the posting. Install from the Chrome Web Store, read the privacy section of the listing, and remove any you stop using. Applyvo's extension signs in with the same session as the web app and doesn't store your resume.
Do autofill extensions work on Workday?
Simplify lists Workday among the platforms it autofills. Workday forms differ from employer to employer, so review each field before you submit.
Is there a free Chrome extension for job tracking?
Yes. Simplify, Huntr, Teal, and Applyvo are free to install, and each has a free plan behind it. The limits sit in the web app. Huntr's free plan, for example, tracks up to 100 jobs.
Should I use an extension that applies for me?
Autofill that completes a form you then review saves time. Tools that submit applications in bulk trade quality for volume, and a recruiter reading a generic application can tell. Spend the saved time tailoring the applications you care about.
